Hsinchu can’t read its KTV bills — not for lack of math, but because nobody ever spread out the formula.
Spread out, it’s three parameters. Etch down one layer at a time.
Parameter 1: the time slot
The dominant variable — the same room can vary threefold.
The floor price sits at weekday noon to five, NT$200–400 a head for a whole afternoon. Weekday evenings climb to NT$400–600. Friday–Saturday nights and pre-holiday eves form the ceiling, from NT$600–900. December through February adds the year-end-party layer: tech firms buying out entire floors is routine, making weekend slots in that window the scarcest and least negotiable of the year.
The engineering conclusion: weekday over weekend, daylight over dark.
Parameter 2: the billing scheme
Hsinchu’s two volume houses share a lineage and differ in the details.
凱悅KTV新竹店 at No. 375 Jingguo Rd Sec. 1 — 5,100-plus reviews at 4.7, the citywide review king — mostly bundles hours and basic drinks into its room packages, which favours bigger groups. 錢櫃 新竹店 at No. 230 Beida Rd — 2,600-plus at 4.1 — runs standard chain billing with the smoothest app booking, promotions rotating weekly.
The true gap between them isn’t on the rate card; it’s in this week’s promotion. Three minutes on the official page before you go is routinely worth ten percent.
The branch line is the hotel annex: 曼哈頓KTV&PUB inside the Lakeshore Hotel at No. 773 Minghu Rd, singing paired with a drinks program, a tier up per head — for gatherings that aren’t purely about the songbook.
Parameter 3: the hidden items
What lands on the bill at the end is usually these three.
Service charge, ten percent, nearly universal — multiply your budget by 1.1 first. Drink minimums, charged separately in some slots — ask at the door. And overtime: extending by the hour costs more than booking long upfront, and a group mid-chorus is exactly when the meter bleeds. Book the longer package from the start.
All of it subject to posted rates — not a disclaimer, it genuinely shifts by the quarter.
Yield-improvement notes
Three moves: flash the student ID on weekdays. Reach six people before opening a mid-size room — the per-head drops a full tier. And if anyone drank, it’s a taxi or designated driver home, NT$300–400 across the city — orders of magnitude cheaper than the alternative.
For house-by-house specs, the Hsinchu KTV price table has the grid; venue-choosing logic lives in the Hsinchu singing overview; the East District roster sits at the East District KTV list, starting from the district page.
Memorize the formula and the bill holds no surprises — save those for the microphone.
