Most Weiwuying performances let out between 9:30 and 10 — check your programme. Step out of the opera house and the plaza lights at No. 1 Sanduo 1st Rd are still on, and here's the problem: two thousand people leaving together, a queue at MRT exit 6, fifteen minutes minimum for a ride. Locals don't fight it; they switch channels. Three directions after curtain — pick one and the crowd sorts itself.
Channel A: don't move, stay on the Banyan Plaza
Least effort. The Banyan Plaza and arcades are free after dark, and the lit fair-faced concrete is an exhibit in itself; the crowd halves fifteen minutes after curtain, and a loop of the plaza then beats shoving at the exit. Hungry? Walk ten minutes toward Fengshan to STORY Restaurant at No. 22, Lane 296 Bade Rd, 2,200+ reviews at 4.9, the most-named after-show drink near Weiwuying — it fills after 10 on show nights, book; Yamada Nishiki at No. 17 in the same lane (200+) for izakaya.
Channel B: into Fengshan, old county town finish
One Orange Line stop east to Fengshan, or a fifteen-minute walk. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Qingnian Night Market runs (check on site), the whole of Wenheng Rd eating until late — arriving at 10 after a show skips the 8–9pm peak. On off nights, Badi Music Darts Bar at No. 48 Zhongshan W. Rd, 4.9 with 600 reviews, darts and cocktails, one of Fengshan's few proper bars. To sing, Holiday KTV Wujia at No. 291 Fengnan Rd, 3,200+, the room king of south Kaohsiung; to finish, Songzulin Foot Massage at No. 77 Wenbin Rd, 1,300+, with Buzui Izakaya Fengshan (4.8) downstairs at the same address for a late bite. Channel C: into Lingya, two Orange Line stops
For city density, two stops west to Cultural Center, five minutes. Yanyang BBQ Bar at No. 163-6 Qingnian 1st Rd, 1,200+ reviews, grilled meat and drinks until late; After Treelight at No. 43 Linquan St, 4.9 with 800+, quiet — the place to talk about the show. Singing without going downtown: Datangdian KTV Dashun at No. 106 Dashun 3rd Rd, 1,200+, one stop from Weiwuying. On the Lingya bar list, this cluster is the shared finish for Cultural Center audiences too.
Signal notes: transport and designated drivers
The Orange Line's last train from Weiwuying is around midnight; the platform is worst in the thirty minutes after curtain, so walking to Fengshan or Jianjun station is actually faster. Same for rides: don't order at exit 6 — walk two hundred metres along Sanduo 1st Rd and the wait halves. After drinks, designated driver or taxi, no matter how well you know Fengshan's roads.
