The term “lazybar” points to Lazy Bar 懶人酒吧 at Zhongzheng 7th St 45 in Yongkang, 4.9 stars and over 350 reviews, phone 06 253 1883. It is on file, and among Yongkang’s nine bars and bistros its score ties for highest with a shop on Fuxing Rd.
But Yongkang has another shop with “lazy” in its name.
Front page: Zhongzheng 7th St 45
Lazy Bar 懶人酒吧, 4.9 stars and over 350.
Of Yongkang’s nine bars and bistros on file, the largest by count is 夜伴食光 Night & Sip Oriental Lounge at Zhonghua Rd 796-1 with over 1,430, then 夜貓子啤酒屋 at Zhonghua Rd 107 with over 1,190 and BAR CRAZY酒吧 at Zhongzheng S. Rd 378-2 with over 870. Lazy Bar’s 350-plus ranks fifth, and its 4.9 sits level with BAR CRAZY and Night & Sip.
350-plus holding at 4.9 means a steady small room. Zhongzheng 7th St is a residential lane east of Zhongzheng S. Rd, not on the stir-fry strip. It serves people who live in Yongkang or Yanhang and do not want to go into Zhongxi.
Page two, corrections: two shops, not one
Verified: Fuxing Rd Lane 423 Alley 85 No. 2, LAZYMOON 月懶氏 酒吧, 4.9 stars and over 120, phone 06 312 8053.
Same district, same 4.9, lazy in both names. Not the same shop. More than a block apart, about ten minutes by scooter.
A search for “lazybar” is most likely after Zhongzheng 7th St. A search for “Lazymoon” goes to Fuxing Rd. This paper draws no conclusion for the reader; it prints both addresses side by side.
Page three: getting there
TRA Yongkang or Daqiao Station, about ten minutes by taxi from either. By scooter, Zhongzheng S. Rd onto Zhongzheng 7th St. Check a map for the exact route.
The Red Trunk and Route 3 buses run along Zhonghua Rd with a walk after; this paper does not recommend the bus for a drink, since return services end early.
Street parking on Zhongzheng 7th St is easy at night. Being able to park does not mean being able to drive away.
Page four: when to go
Friday and Saturday after eight, book first, 06 253 1883. Small room, fills fast.
Weekday nights after nine usually have seats. Hours per the shop’s notice. Yongkang shops generally close earlier than Zhongxi; do not plan on a two-in-the-morning pace, a shutter around midnight is normal.
Plainly put, if you want to drink into the small hours, Yongkang is not that place; the Haian Rd bar strip is.
Page five: the bill
Going rate only: cocktails NT$250 to 400, beer NT$150 to 250, food extra. Two people over two rounds with snacks, around NT$1,200. Minimum charge and service fee per the posted notice; ask before you sit.
Yongkang prices stay in the kind range, as Yongkang at night noted: stir-fry NT$120 to 200 a plate, three to five people with drinks under NT$400 a head. Stir-fry first, then a drink here, is the local order.
Reporter’s warning column
Three kinds of people need not come.
Anyone wanting bartender theatrics and a thick menu: back to Zhongxi, Tainan bars for first-timers is the primer. Anyone wanting dancing and loud music: Yongkang has none. Tourists staying in Anping or the city center: a fifteen-minute taxi to a small Yongkang bar is not worth it; this shop is for people who live in Yongkang.
Editorial: the steering wheel
Tainan has no metro. TRA Yongkang and Daqiao stations reach downtown in six to ten minutes, trains until late; miss one and a taxi to Zhongxi is gentle on the wallet.
If you drink, taxi or designated driver, always. The streets around Zhongzheng 7th St are quiet late at night; save the driver’s number before you leave. Tainan late-night transport guide covers arranging a driver. Yongkang’s nine are listed on Yongkang bars and bistros.
