Of the seven characters in “da-da-wu-hua-da-wu-hua”, wu takes two slots: Wednesday and Saturday. This paper first fills in what the rhyme leaves out — Wusheng Night Market actually opens three days, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; the Friday slot records Dadong, but Wusheng opens too. 【Venue】Tainan's oldest roving night market
Wusheng sits at Lane 69 Wusheng Rd in Zhongxi District, opened in 1984, the oldest roving market still running in Tainan; about 2,400 ping of ground, 250-odd stalls, and a 6,000-ping car and scooter park beside it — the figure that most separates it from Garden: Garden runs on legs, Wusheng on the car park. 【How to eat】Three belts, no queue over fifteen minutes
Same layout as Tainan's other roving markets: food belt, games belt, goods belt. The reporter's advice: 6–7pm at opening is loosest, handle the queue stalls then; 8–9:30 is peak, Saturday fuller than Wednesday; after 10, pick over the tail with most stalls still up. NT$50–100 a serve, under NT$200 a head, Tainan prices. Any queue over fifteen minutes usually has the same category within twenty metres, unless that stall is your reason for tonight.
Wusheng's games belt is proportionally large — families with children come Saturday night for balloon darts, fish scooping and pinball in a row.

Stalls close around 11, and the second half is within walking or a short ride. 【Transport】The car park is an asset and a trap
Six thousand ping of parking makes driving the right choice for Wusheng, but exiting queues at closing — smoothest after 10:30. Tainan has no metro; the market runs on scooters, cars and taxis, about fifteen minutes from Tainan station by car; ride waits stretch at the closing peak, so walk to the Wusheng Rd corner before ordering. Standing rule: after drinks, designated driver or taxi — don't ride.
