For Thai massage in Taipei, look at review counts first, then at which district you are in.
Forty-odd Thai massage shops are on file, spread over eight districts. The earlier piece, Thai massage picks, sorted them by MRT line. This one uses a different ruler: review count, cut into three tiers. Shops in the same tier offer roughly the same thing; shops in different tiers suit different people. Every name and number comes from the shop registry.
Tier one: over 2,000 reviews, four shops
Four shops, three districts.
泰晶殿皇家養身會館 at Bade Rd Sec. 2 No. 192 in Zhongshan, 4.8 stars and 3,502 reviews, the most-reviewed Thai shop on file in Taipei. 泰之心精緻SPA健康館 at Songshan Rd 227 in Xinyi, 4.9 stars and over 2,780. 泰晶殿皇家SPA莊園-安和會館 at Anhe Rd Sec. 2 No. 102 in Da’an, 4.9 stars and over 2,270. 泰和殿泰式按摩 at Minsheng E. Rd Sec. 2 No. 88 in Zhongshan, 4.7 stars and over 1,950, a few dozen short, counted in anyway.
What they share: many beds, many therapists, four people can go in at once, and a wait on Friday and Saturday nights from eight to ten. Going rate sits at the top of the band, ninety minutes NT$1,500 to 1,800, posted prices rule.
For: first-timers, people who want a safe bet, groups of friends.
Not for: one person on a weekday afternoon who wants a quiet nap. The big houses move like a factory line; quiet is not their strength.
Tier two: 500 to 2,000 reviews
This tier has the most shops and is the most useful.
Three in a row on Gangqian Rd in Neihu. No. 103, 泰心禾泰式spa按摩港墘1館 Thai massage, 4.7 stars and over 1,740; the second branch at No. 113 with over 320; 泰鑫殿泰式SPA養生會館-港墘館 at No. 137 with over 160. Five to ten minutes on foot from Gangqian Station. Tech workers fill it from seven to nine after work; after half past nine it loosens.
Two on Yongji Rd in Xinyi: 泰心泰式生活館 at No. 413, 4.4 stars and over 840, and its third branch at No. 359, 4.9 stars and over 140. 泰芝心泰式按摩健康舒壓養生spa(後山埤店) at Zhongxiao E. Rd Sec. 5 No. 781, 4.9 stars and over 1,040, eight minutes from Houshanpi Station.
泰和殿泰式SPA養生會館 at Guangfu N. Rd 34 in Songshan, over 650; 沐谷 Thai Spa at Minsheng E. Rd Sec. 5 No. 43, 4.9 stars and over 530, the quietest one in the Minsheng community. 泰金麒 泰式養身會館 at Chongqing N. Rd Sec. 3 No. 127 in Datong, 4.9 stars and over 560.
For: people who live nearby, people on the way home from work, anyone dodging the tier-one crowd. Call on a weekday evening and there is usually a bed the same day.
Tier three: under 300 reviews
Alley shops.
森泰Thai massage 泰式按摩 at Leli Rd Lane 28 No. 2, 2F in Da’an, a perfect score and 45 reviews; 明麗之星泰式按摩芳香養生館 at Roosevelt Rd Sec. 2 Lane 81 No. 9, 4.7 stars and 207; 蘭亭泰式養生館 Thaiorchid Thai massage &spa at Yanji St Lane 241 Alley 2 No. 17, over 190. 曼谷泰式按摩工作室 at Hulin St 17 in Xinyi, 4.6 stars and over 110, listed with a mobile number.
One or two therapists, three or four beds, not necessarily full even on Friday and Saturday nights. Going rate mostly ninety minutes NT$1,200 to 1,500, posted prices rule.
For: regulars, the kind who try once and keep coming back.
Plainly put, under 300 reviews does not mean worse; it means no queue. If what you want is to lie down right now, this tier is the answer.
One line on districts
Shilin’s Thai shops are a district of their own, eleven on file along Yanping N. Rd Sec. 5 and Zhongzheng Rd, covered in Shilin Thai massage and SPA. Price bands and pitfalls for every massage type citywide are in How to choose a Taipei massage or SPA. The Zhongshan and Xinyi lists are on each district page.
