Luodong KTV and Self-Service Singing: The Late Night Around Songzhumei

QUICK ANSWER All three Luodong KTVs sit within walking distance of TRA Luodong Station; the two self-service rooms on Datong and Zhongzheng N Roads score 4.9 and are the main event, Holiday KTV is for parents. Songzhumei Self-Service KTV is in Jiaoxi on Deyang Road Lane 8, twenty-odd minutes by train from Luodong — not on the way, skip it. Sunday midnight is the easiest cell for a room, Saturday night the hardest.

Ten forty on a Friday night. The queue at Luodong Night Market has finally thinned, you are holding a bowl of herbal mutton soup you just got your hands on, your feet ache, and the question is where next.

In this cell of the calendar, Luodong’s answer is KTV.

First, all three Luodong rooms on one page

Luodong’s KTV list has three names. Not many. Enough.

Super Star Self-Service KTV Yilan Luodong at No. 22-2 Datong Road: over 3,700 reviews, 4.9 — nothing else in the county reaches that volume. Xingjuhui Self-Service KTV on the second floor of No. 30 Zhongzheng N Road: over 1,100 reviews, also 4.9. Holiday KTV Luodong on the second floor of No. 163 Gongzheng Road: over 800 reviews, 4.1, the only chain.

All three are within walking distance of TRA Luodong Station. The Datong and Zhongzheng N Road pair are closer — leave the station, head toward Zhongzheng N Road, a few minutes on foot, no taxi needed.

Looking for “Songzhumei”? Read this cell first

Plenty of people search “Luodong Songzhumei KTV”, so to be clear: Songzhumei Self-Service KTV is in Jiaoxi, at No. 1, Lane 8, Deyang Road. Not Luodong.

It is not on our Luodong list. Around forty reviews, a 5.0 score, a small room on the Tangweigou side of Jiaoxi that makes sense after a hot spring. If you are standing at Luodong Night Market and insist on going, it is twenty-odd minutes on the TRA local train plus a walk from the station; by the time you are back, the room never got opened and the famous stalls in Luodong have packed up.

Skip it.

Any of the three Luodong rooms beats that round trip. If you genuinely want Songzhumei, put it in the Jiaoxi cell of your calendar — the after-hot-spring route is where it fits.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: the same room, three faces

Friday night. The half-past-ten wave leaving the night market walks straight into Datong and Zhongzheng N Roads, and there will be a line at both self-service counters. No booking, an hour’s wait is nothing unusual.

Saturday is fuller. Day-trippers make Luodong their last stop before heading home, and many of them pencil KTV in as the closing cell. If you want to sing that day, get in before four in the afternoon or come after 1 a.m.; leave the middle alone.

Sunday midnight. Oddly the loosest cell of the week — rooms available, corridors quiet, nobody hurries you out at two or three in the morning. One downside: work tomorrow.

Weekday afternoons are the cheapest. Self-service rates are at their friendliest in this cell, the night market has not even opened, and you finish just in time to walk in at half past seven for the first round of stalls, NT$200-300 a head to eat well. Actual pricing follows each shop’s posted rates that day; do not argue from an old number found online.

What self-service actually means

You pick the songs, you collect the food at the counter, you tally your own hours. The labour saved shows up in room time and in the scores — two Luodong rooms at 4.9 is not an accident.

Holiday KTV’s 4.1 is the gap in standardised service and song-library updates; bring parents, talk business, or have someone in the group who dislikes self-service, and it is the steadier pick. Six or more twenty-somethings: self-service.

To compare rooms across the whole county, the Yilan KTV guide lists Yilan City and Jiaoxi too.

After the last song

Step out onto Datong Road at 1 a.m. and Luodong is still awake. Most of the stir-fry places on the night market’s outer ring have closed; whether the row of massage parlours on Tianjin Road can still take you depends on which signs are lit; the late-night places still open will catch you.

If there was drinking in the room, nobody touches a steering wheel. A taxi in central Luodong arrives in three to five minutes and designated drivers can be booked; the intercity coaches at the bus terminal stop early — check the day’s posted schedule — so past midnight it is basically taxis and your guesthouse.

September rain likes to start after midnight. For the hundred metres from the KTV door to the pick-up point, keep the umbrella.

FAQ

N-01Is Songzhumei KTV in Luodong?

No. Songzhumei Self-Service KTV is at No. 1, Lane 8, Deyang Road in Jiaoxi Township — about forty reviews, a 5.0 score, a small room on the Tangweigou side of Jiaoxi. From Luodong it is twenty-odd minutes by TRA plus a walk. If you are already at Luodong Night Market it is not worth the detour; slot it into your hot-spring day instead.

N-02Which KTVs are in Luodong?

Three. Super Star Self-Service KTV Yilan Luodong at No. 22-2 Datong Road, over 3,700 reviews and 4.9; Xingjuhui Self-Service KTV on the second floor of No. 30 Zhongzheng N Road, over 1,100 reviews and 4.9; and Holiday KTV Luodong on the second floor of No. 163 Gongzheng Road, over 800 reviews and 4.1, the only chain.

N-03When is a Luodong KTV room hardest to get?

Friday and Saturday from half past ten to about 1 a.m. The night-market crowd walks straight into Datong and Zhongzheng N Roads; without a booking, an hour's wait at the counter is normal. Sunday midnight is the loosest, weekday afternoons the cheapest — prices follow each shop's posted rates on the day.

N-04How is self-service KTV different from Holiday KTV?

Self-service means you pick songs, collect food at the counter and settle your own hours; the labour saved shows up in room time and in the scores — both Luodong rooms sit at 4.9. Holiday KTV wins on standardised service and song-library updates, the safer pick with parents or for a business chat.

N-05How do I get home after singing until 1 a.m.?

A taxi in central Luodong arrives in three to five minutes and designated drivers can be booked. The last intercity coaches at the bus terminal leave early — check the posted schedule that day — so past midnight it is taxis or your guesthouse. If there was drinking in the room, nobody touches a steering wheel.
