“Where do you take someone at night in Yilan?”
The answer is not a venue. It is a route. There are three kinds of date night in this county, and picking the wrong one usually means running out of things to do by nine.
All three come with times. All three come with who they are wrong for.
Route one: Jiaoxi hot springs, for couples who do not want to think
The hardest of the three to get wrong.
18:30 Into a private bath. Along the Jiaoxi hot-spring street, a room for two runs NT$400-800 per hour and most run to 11 pm or midnight. Weekend peak is seven to nine, so book.
20:00 Out of the water, walking Deyang and Jiaoxi roads for food. COZZZY BAR on Deyang Rd and 時令 Seasons bar on Deyang St are within a few steps; for something hot, the izakaya line Wenquan Rd.
22:00 Free foot soak at Tangweigou Hot Spring Park. Costs nothing, partly covered, and it is where the conversation actually happens.
23:00 Close with a foot massage — shops around Deyang Rd often run to 1 or 2 am. The post-soak guide has the details.
Wrong for: anyone on a tight budget. Jiaoxi charges tourist rates, and weekends make it obvious.
Route two: Luodong, for two people who talk a lot
Most choice, loosest budget, no car needed.
19:00 One loop of Luodong night market around Zhongshan Park, eating small. Settle the famous stalls before ten; weekends between eight and nine are the crush, so spend that hour on the outer ring instead.
20:30 Sit down at a stir-fry house on Xingdong Rd or an izakaya near Zhandong Rd, about NT$400 a head.
22:00 The fork. For quiet, 藍調酒館 Blues&Jazz 酒吧 on Zhongzheng N Rd, 4.9 stars across 450-plus reviews. For a view, The Roof 190 星空酒吧 sits on the roof level on Zhandong Rd.
23:30 A couples’ spa such as 米藍米嵐MiLan SPA on Xingdong Rd, or the big self-service KTV on Datong Rd until closing.
Wrong for: anyone after a hushed atmosphere. Luodong’s strength is density, not seclusion.
Route three: Toucheng and the sea, best view, earliest end
This route has something nowhere else in Yilan has, and the hardest constraint.
17:30 Reach Wushi Harbor before the light goes, with Guishan Island offshore. The Lanyang Museum’s slanted roof reads as a silhouette at dusk, though the galleries themselves close by evening.
18:30 Seafood and izakaya along Sec. 3 of Qingyun Rd. 秀 やま 炭火串燒 / 海鮮 居酒屋(無外帶服務) and 島的對面 串燒&居酒屋-平價餐廳 are both on this stretch, NT$400-800 a head depending on what you order.
20:30 In summer, move to Wai’ao for a surf-shop bar, sea wind and the lights of Guishan Island. In winter or midweek there is a strong chance nothing is open — check before you drive.
21:00 Toucheng is essentially done. To continue, Jiaoxi is about twenty minutes away.
Wrong for: anyone without a car. Last buses go early here and you will not flag a taxi on the road — this is the only route needing transport arranged in advance. The Wushi Harbor evening route covers it fully.
Choosing, in one line
Do not want to think, take Jiaoxi. Want options, take Luodong. Want the picture, take Toucheng — and accept either a nine o’clock finish or another twenty minutes of driving.
One thing none of them skip. All three involve drinking, and the county has no metro and early last buses. Call a car or book a designated driver; on the coast, arrange it ahead rather than standing at the roadside hoping.
