Night timetable, posted on the wall at Zhixue Station.
Two lines for drinking. The microphone line is blank.
Shoufeng Township lists zero KTV and zero massage. The whole township registers two businesses: Pang Duo Mo 胖哆摩義式廚房(花蓮總店)/Pang Duo Music Pub胖哆音樂酒吧 at No. 79 Zhongzheng Rd., Zhixue Village, 4 stars on 50-plus reviews, 03 866 3456; and 皮爾沙酒吧 at No. 18 Shanling, Yanliao Village, 4.5 stars on 80-plus, 03 812 3999.
Shoufeng nightlife already issued those two tickets. This service handles one thing only: if you want to sing, you’re buying an out-of-station fare.
Four of them.
Fare One: Ji’an, Shortest Ride
No. 159 Nanhai 8th St. — 南海凱歌館, a perfect score on 60-plus reviews, mobile 0982 466 666.
About fifteen minutes’ drive from Shoufeng, the shortest of the four.
Sixty-odd reviews is local-room volume. A perfect score on that base doesn’t promise nothing goes wrong; it says most people who went came away happy. Few rooms, so call ahead at weekends. For chain rooms, a food menu, or ten people walking in together, this fare isn’t enough — keep going north.
Fares Two and Three: Guolian Rd., Hualien City
No. 82 Guolian 3rd Rd. — 享溫馨KTV花蓮店, 4.2 stars on 590-plus reviews, 03 835 0668. Chain format, with more rooms and a fuller menu.
No. 13 Guolian 1st Rd. — 龍鳳鎮平價KTV, 4.4 stars on 110-plus, 03 832 2661. Budget is printed on the sign.
Two fares, one road, and the choice is direct: a big group, a booking that has to land, food on the table — dial 享溫馨. Two or three people, a couple of hours, not much money — go to 龍鳳鎮. The 4.2 on 590-plus loses most of its points in one window, eight to midnight on Friday and Saturday, in queues and clock-watching; a weekday afternoon in the same room is a different thing.
Both sit inside Hualien Station’s drive radius. Hualien KTV ranks the county’s rooms and scores; the list is on Hualien City KTV.
From Zhixue, a local train to Hualien Station runs about twenty minutes — the cheapest leg of travel available here.
Fare Four: South to Yuli, an Hour or So
No. 113, Sec. 2 Zhongshan Rd. — 好樂迪玉里店, 4 stars on 110-plus reviews, 03 888 8663. The only chain karaoke in the southern valley.
From Zhixue it’s an hour or so south on the valley line, with wide gaps between services; go by the day’s timetable.
What this fare is worth depends which end of the valley you live. From Shoufeng, heading south to sing doesn’t pay — north is always faster. For anyone around Ruisui or Yuli, this is the local ticket, and there’s no need to crowd into Hualien City.
The Return Column Matters More Than the Outbound
Twenty minutes to Hualien City is cheap. Coming back is the problem.
Valley-line services are widely spaced and the last train is early. Sing past eleven and you will almost certainly miss it, which leaves a taxi — and one cab from Hualien City back to Zhixue costs what several late-night meals would.
Check the last train before you leave, or decide at the outset that tonight’s return is a cab. Don’t start the arithmetic halfway through the second song. Hualien night transport sets out the fares and timing logic for each leg.
Highway 9 carries fast traffic at night with widely spaced streetlights. Walk or ride on the shoulder, wear something reflective, and if you’ve been drinking, use a designated driver.
The Night That Stays in Shoufeng
No microphone. Still things to do.
Zhixue St. runs on the academic calendar: in term time the braised snacks, fried chicken and drink shops queue until ten or eleven; over the breaks the footfall halves, some shops close, and the whole street goes dark early. Check whether term is in before you set off — more useful than checking opening hours, and Zhixue St. follows the semester writes the two versions separately.
Late-night food runs NT$150–250 a head and eats well, the cheapest stretch of night in Hualien. Dong Hwa University is at No. 1, Sec. 2 Daxue Rd.; walking the campus for the stars at night is fine if you keep it low-key. Liyu Lake is quiet after dark, except during the April-to-May firefly season.
The Yanliao fare can’t be walked to from Zhixue — that bar sits out on the Highway 11B coast road, a different catchment from Zhixue St., ten to twenty minutes apart by car. Door numbers are on Shoufeng and Shoufeng’s two venues.
This station issues four out-of-station fares. There is no fifth.
