Two singing rooms on Dachang 2nd Rd sit fewer than eighty door numbers apart.
One carries 2,130 reviews. The other carries 121. Two minutes on foot, and the billing logic is nothing like the same.
Sanmin lists six karaoke venues. Subtract the one registered as a hostess-service club and five remain. Of those five, two chains hold 3,100-plus reviews; the three independents together clear barely 558.
That gap is the whole sorting rule.
Answer Four Questions and the List Splits Itself
Do not start from the star rating. The 4.9 house has 121 reviews; the 4.3 house has 2,130. Sorting by stars produces a fake order.
What actually matters:
- How many people tonight?
- How many hours of singing?
- Food in the room, or not?
- Is anyone drinking?
Eight or More, Food, Past Ten — Take a Chain
錢櫃高雄建興店, Jianxing Rd 391, 4.5 stars on 979 reviews, 07 382 5668.
銀櫃 KTV 高雄店, Dachang 2nd Rd 119-5, 4.3 on 2,130, 07 397 7888.
A chain is worth paying for on exactly two counts: the room holds ten people, and food arrives when you press the bell. Pricing runs per head with a minimum spend attached, Friday and Saturday from eight into the small hours is the most expensive window of the week, and a head commonly lands in the NT$300–600 band. Posted rates are final.
Two people should not walk into either of these.
Per-head pricing plus a minimum spend means a pair carries the floor price of the entire room, and the two-hour bill reads as though you ordered a round of spirits you never drank.
No booking after eight on a Friday means waiting. Late October cools down and company dinners start stacking up; the large rooms on Jianxing Rd generally go to group bookings before the week turns. Call in the afternoon.
Four or Fewer, Weekday, Singing Only — Pick One of Three
Venice KTV Club, Shiquan 1st Rd 209, 4.8 on 236 reviews, 0980 969 075. The heaviest signal of the three independents, newer rooms, and the closest of the five to Houyi station.
宏彩KTV, Dingqiang St 99, 4.0 on 201, 07 310 2180. Bottom of the five on stars, but 201 reviews is a readable sample: a weekday practice room. Expect nothing from the service and nothing disappoints.
凱悅歡唱卡拉ok, Dachang 2nd Rd 195, 2F, 4.9 on 121, 07 398 7885.
A 4.9 across 121 reviews is not first place in the district; it is a small sample. Read it as: few people go, and the ones who do come back satisfied. Right for two or three who would rather not be washed out by the bass through the wall of a big room.
If your plan is ten songs back to back without stopping, skip the karaoke-style rooms. Their rhythm is queue a song, talk, queue another. For four uninterrupted hours, go back to the chains.
One Street, Two Ways of Singing
Dachang 2nd Rd 119-5, and 195, 2F.
Two minutes apart.
One side is chain-scale volume at 2,130 reviews; the other is a second-floor room at 121. Same stretch of road, two entirely different systems behind the door: per head, minimum spend, buffet on one side; per room and per hour, drinks from the fridge, cheaper the fewer you are, on the other.
Stand at the corner for thirty seconds. Settle the headcount first, then choose the door number.
The four pricing variables behind chain versus self-service are unpacked in the Kaohsiung KTV price comparison; the citywide spread sits in the Kaohsiung KTV guide.
Getting Home
Sanmin has two MRT stations, both on the red line: Kaohsiung Main Station at Jianguo 2nd Rd 318, and Houyi. TRA shares the same building. Last train lands around midnight, per the day’s posted schedule.
The problem is that none of these five is inside a walking radius.
Dachang 2nd Rd, Jianxing Rd and Dingqiang St are about ten minutes by taxi from the main station. Shiquan 1st Rd 209 is closer to Houyi, roughly fifteen minutes on foot in daylight, though at this hour take a car anyway. Coming off the orange line means a transfer to red at Formosa Boulevard; count that leg in.
Beer in a karaoke room never feels like much until the bill prints. If you drove, the car stays where it is — call a designated driver or ride home and collect it tomorrow. Transfers and late-night timings are laid out in the Kaohsiung MRT night guide.
Eat afterwards on Rehe Street. The congee and mee sua across this district run very late and beat anything that comes out of a KTV kitchen. Full door numbers and phone lines for all five sit on the Sanmin KTV list; how the district’s nightlife scatters is mapped in the Sanmin nightlife guide.
A Seasonal Reading
Late October, the northeast monsoon starts pushing south and your hands get cold on a scooter at night. A karaoke room is the cheapest indoor hour of this season — four of them, no rain, no queue.
Dachang 2nd Rd at eight on a Wednesday is quiet.
That is the best time to go.
