Zhonghua Road KTV Guide: Five Sections, Only One and a Half You Can Sing On

QUICK ANSWER Of Zhonghua Road's five sections, only 3rd Road lets you hop between rooms: Holiday at No. 11, Cashbox at No. 151, We go at No. 204. 4th Road has a single small house at No. 21. Skip 1st, 2nd and 5th Road for singing. Book ahead for Friday and Saturday after nine, and take a taxi or a designated driver if you drink.
Door-number scan of Kaohsiung's Zhonghua Road KTV strip: rooms, bars and massage stops along Zhonghua 3rd and 4th Road on a neon HUD axis

Scan start. Target: one road.

People who search for Zhonghua Road KTV tend to assume the whole road is lined with rooms. It is not. Kaohsiung’s Zhonghua Road is numbered from 1st to 5th: 1st Road heads north toward Gushan and Zuoying, 2nd Road sits in Sanmin, and 5th Road runs all the way down into Qianzhen. Our shop registry lists no KTV on any of those three.

You can sing on one and a half sections: Zhonghua 3rd Road in Qianjin, plus a short stretch at the north end of Zhonghua 4th Road in Lingya.

Zhonghua 3rd Road: No. 11 to No. 204

The densest signal, all of it on the Qianjin KTV list. Reading the door numbers upward:

好樂迪KTV(中華店) (Holiday KTV, Zhonghua branch), No. 11 Zhonghua 3rd Road. 4.1 on 1,416 reviews. It sits at the Wufu Road end, closest to Central Park. Chain spec, fast song updates, a flat score. Expect no surprises.

錢櫃高雄中華新館 (Cashbox Kaohsiung Zhonghua), No. 151. 4.2 on 1,809 reviews, the most-reviewed house on the road, with enough rooms to take a party of ten or more.

We go歡唱, No. 204. 4.2 on 559 reviews. Independent, third in scale on this road.

All three score between 4.1 and 4.2. Read that plainly: this road sells rooms that exist, are easy to find and run to a standard. It does not sell finish. For a high score you step off Zhonghua Road: 凱悅YES KTV高雄旗艦店 (Kaiyue YES flagship) at No. 166 Zhongzheng 4th Road holds 4.9 on 6,142 reviews. The address is not on Zhonghua Road, yet it is the real mainframe of this strip. When 3rd Road is full you walk to it; when it is full you walk back.

Friday and Saturday from nine to eleven at night is the queue peak. In July and August even weekdays are crowded. Weekday afternoons and after-midnight slots are the loosest and the cheapest; chain weekend prime time runs roughly NT$300-600 a head, with actual rates and minimum spend set by the posted board.

Two more nodes on the same stretch. 邂逅小酒館 at No. 23-3 has 68 reviews at 5.0, a place for one drink before the room. 好啊好啊!按摩職人(預約制) on the 2nd floor of No. 176 has 165 reviews at 4.9; the name itself says appointment only, so do not just walk upstairs. More bars are on the Qianjin bar list.

Past Wufu Road: Zhonghua 4th Road

The signal drops fast.

On the whole of Zhonghua 4th Road the registry holds one KTV: 橘子紅歡唱吧 at No. 21, 4.5 on 48 reviews, and by then the district is already Lingya. Forty-eight reviews is a small sample, so treat the 4.5 as a hint. It is a small house, right for two or three people who want to sit down and sing a few songs. A birthday party of ten should stay on 3rd Road.

What 4th Road does well is drinks. 出獵 Hunting bar at No. 17 has 339 reviews at 4.9. 爵尹音樂餐酒bar at No. 74 B1 has 163 at 5.0, and on live-music nights it feels more like listening to songs than a private room does. Back north across the Qianjin line, 窗吧 Thang-á-bar on the ground floor of No. 300 has 326 at 4.9. No. 34 is AP SPA, 187 reviews at 4.5. To trade singing for listening, see Kaohsiung music bars; for how the rest of the district runs at night, the Lingya page goes deeper.

Further south, where 4th Road hands over to 5th, it is malls and housing. Along Zhonghua 5th Road the registry lists massage only, no rooms. Going there to sing is a wasted trip.

When not to take Zhonghua Road

  • Two people who want to practise on NT$200-300 a head: chain minimums are unkind to pairs. Go self-service in Xinxing; Self-Service KTV in Kaohsiung does the routing.
  • You care about new rooms and photos: the three scores on 3rd Road are what they are. Book Zhongzheng 4th Road.
  • You live in north Kaohsiung: the Arena and Sanmin side has its own chain branches, and crossing town starts at twenty minutes each way. For how the districts compare on price, see the Kaohsiung KTV price comparison.
  • You are driving and plan to drink: cars are hard to park here. Next section.

Parking and the way home

Zhonghua 3rd and 4th Road are a north-south trunk, and traffic stays steady until ten at night. Scooter bays line the road. Car bays are close to full on weekend nights, and three laps of the block lose to simply entering a paid lot.

Two MRT entries: Orange Line City Council station on Zhongzheng 4th Road, Red Line Central Park station on Zhongshan Road, each about a ten-minute walk to Zhonghua 3rd Road. Check the map. Last trains leave around midnight, and rooms usually run past that, so plan the return first.

If you drank, keep your hands off the wheel and the handlebars. Take a taxi, or hire a designated driver to bring the car home with you. Split across the room, it costs far less than one fine.

Scan complete. The lights on 3rd Road are still on.
