New Taipei Massage & Spa Guide: Choosing Between Wellness and Thai by District

2026-09-14

Answer three questions: where it aches, whether you want to lie down, whether you booked. Sore feet — foot halls; Kumamoto Wood at Banqiao Minquan Rd No. 45 has 16,800-plus reviews, the New Taipei ceiling. Stiff all over — Thai; Finina at Yonghe Zhongzheng Rd No. 89, 1,600-plus. Want to switch off without pain — Vietnamese hair-wash on Sanchong's Chongxin Rd or oil spas on Xindian's Beixin Rd, by appointment. Foot halls run past midnight; spas stop taking guests after nine. Prices as posted.

New Taipei has three-hundred-odd listed massage shops. Honestly, you don't need to know them.

You need to answer three questions. Where does it ache, do you want to lie down, and did you book. Answer those and the shop type falls out; the type tells you which district.

Question one: feet, or everything

Sore feet, tight shoulders — foot massage. New Taipei's mainstream, biggest volume, latest hours, clothes on, 40–60 minutes a session.

Density peaks in Banqiao. Kumamoto Wood Foot Wellness at Minquan Rd No. 45 — 16,800-plus reviews, 4.9 — is the review ceiling for all of New Taipei; the flagship a few doors down at No. 33 adds 6,000 more. Metropolitan Foot Wellness at Nanya S. Rd Sec. 1 No. 5 (6,400-plus, five stars) and Yamamoto Foot Wellness at Hansheng E. Rd No. 17 (4,500-plus) round out the Banqiao list, all within ten minutes of MRT Fuzhong. Xinzhuang and Zhonghe share a brand: Big Foot General at Zhonggang Rd No. 375 (nearly 2,000) and Minle Rd No. 81 (1,600-plus, 4.9). Sanchong's Bafangyue at Longmen Rd No. 32 has 2,000-plus.

Stiff all over, desk-bound, want to be pulled open — Thai. Ninety minutes up, firm hands, change of clothes. Finina Thai at Yonghe Zhongzheng Rd No. 89 (1,600-plus, 4.9) leads the Yonghe list; Taishanghuang Ancient Wellness at Banqiao Zhongshan Rd Sec. 2 No. 252 (1,800-plus, 4.8); Phuket Thai in Lane 118 of Luzhou Renai St (1,100-plus). Afraid of pain? Say so at the door.

Question two: do you want to lie down and switch off

No pressure, just an hour of nothing — Vietnamese hair-wash or oil spa.

Vietnamese hair-wash has grown fast here: wash plus scalp, shoulders and face, 60–90 minutes. SUN Vietnamese Hair Wash Sanchong at Chongxin Rd Sec. 2 No. 114 (3,100-plus, five stars) is the most-reviewed of its type in New Taipei; Here spa at Yonghe Yongyuan Rd No. 132 (2,200-plus, 4.9). The Sanchong list also has Muyi Vietnamese Spa at Chongxin Rd Sec. 4 No. 168 2F (1,800-plus).

Oil spas run on appointments; Xindian is densest. Doll Spa Xindian at Zhongzheng Rd No. 116 2F (1,000-plus, 4.9), Eunice SPA Xindian Zhongxing in Lane 78 of Baoqiao Rd (700-plus), YU Lab Massage at Beixin Rd Sec. 3 No. 120 (470-plus, five stars) — over half the Xindian list. In Tamsui, Karuizawa Garden at Wenhua Rd No. 63 (700-plus, 4.9) is the rare estate-style spa on the north coast. The catch is timing: most stop taking guests after nine; book a day or two ahead for weekends.

Question three: did you book

No booking, and it's already ten. Then only foot halls remain — the most useful trait of the category. Banqiao Minquan, Sanchong Longmen, Xinzhuang Zhonggang halls run past midnight; weeknight waits ten to twenty minutes, weekends over half an hour.

Booked, and it's Friday. Thai or spa both work — ask minutes per session, oil included or not, late-arrival policy. Prices as posted: roughly foot NT$500–800, Thai 90 minutes NT$1,200–1,800, oil spa from NT$1,500.

Routes that fit

Banqiao locals eat in Fuzhong, take a session on Minquan and walk back to the MRT — the Banqiao night guide lays that out. For deeper work in Sanchong and Luzhou, the Sanchong-Luzhou massage report covers types and hours. Don't rush onto a scooter after — wobbly legs after foot work are normal. Sit five minutes.

FAQ

FAQ

01

Which New Taipei district has the most massage shops?

Banqiao. Between Fuzhong and the New Banqiao district, Minquan Rd, Zhongshan Rd Sec. 1 and Chongqing Rd hold a dozen listed shops; the two Kumamoto Wood halls at Minquan Rd Nos. 45 and 33 total over 20,000 reviews. Sanchong and Xinzhuang follow, along Chongxin and Zhonggang Roads.

02

Foot massage versus Thai?

Foot work covers soles plus neck and shoulders, clothes on, 40–60 minutes, most open to the small hours — good after work. Thai is full-body stretching and pressure, 90 minutes up, loose clothing, firm hands — for desk-stiff bodies; say so if you fear pain.

03

Is Vietnamese hair-wash really massage?

Half. Hair wash plus scalp, shoulder and face pressure, lying down, 60–90 minutes — about switching off, not treatment. SUN at Sanchong Chongxin Rd Sec. 2 No. 114 has 3,100-plus reviews; Here spa at Yonghe Yongyuan Rd No. 132, 2,200-plus — the two most-reviewed in New Taipei.

04

Do I need to book?

Depends on type. Foot halls mostly take walk-ins, ten to twenty minutes' wait on weeknights. Thai and oil spas run on bookings — a day or two ahead for weekends. After eleven at night, only foot halls are open.

05

Rough prices?

Vary by shop; posted prices rule. Roughly: foot session NT$500–800, Thai 90 minutes NT$1,200–1,800, oil spa from NT$1,500, Vietnamese hair-wash NT$600–1,000.
