Dali Nightlife Guide: Six Against Twenty-Two — This District's Night Runs on Massage, Not Drink

QUICK ANSWER Dali has 32 listings, fewest of the eight districts: 22 massage and spa houses (nearly seventy percent) against six bars. Of those six, three are izakaya, one a darts bar, one a cafe in practice and one a Mexican bistro — zero cocktail bars. Three venues take song requests. For drinking, Highway 74 reaches downtown in ten to fifteen minutes, with a late-night fare home around NT$300 on the meter.

Dali’s night takes two numbers to explain.

Six against twenty-two.

The Shape of the District First

Dali carries 32 listings, fewest of Taichung’s eight districts — Xitun has 92, West District 81, Central District 43, Fengyuan 38, and then Dali.

Inside those 32: 22 massage and spa houses, six bars and bistros, four venues that take song requests (one of which is a hostess-service format, outside this site’s scope and not listed here).

Massage is close to seventy percent.

Six bars, against West District’s forty-five — a gap of seven and a half times. The full roster sits on the Dali district guide.

Those Six “Bars”, Taken Apart

  • Three izakaya: 夜燒碳烤居酒屋(大里店) at No. 362, Sec. 2, Zhongxing Rd., 1,500-plus reviews at 4.6 stars, 04 2483 5022; 居酒屋 ·拉麵 at No. 79, Sec. 1, Dongrong Rd., 600-plus reviews at a perfect score; 九族居酒屋 at No. 8, Ln. 48, Daming Rd., 130-plus reviews at 4.1 stars
  • One darts bar: 洛克飛鏢club at No. 579 Yonglong Rd., 130-plus reviews at 4.4 stars, 04 2406 2080
  • One cafe in practice: 聊療貓Bar 療癒系身心靈咖啡廳 at No. 511 Tucheng Rd., 850 reviews at a perfect score
  • One Mexican bistro: Paraiso 帕拉伊索墨西哥餐酒 at No. 385 Renhua Rd., 50-plus reviews at a perfect score, few seats, book ahead

Counters you can sit at and order a cocktail: zero.

Dali bars and izakaya holds exactly those six, and the two carrying 600-plus reviews aren’t late venues — izakaya fold around eleven, and the cafe format earlier still. If you were planning to drink in Dali until two in the morning, save yourself the search.

Three Places to Sing, Three Different Formats

No. 509 Daming Rd. — 故鄉庭園自助式KTV大里店, 2,500-plus reviews, 4 stars, 04 2407 5777. Self-service, good value for a crowd.

No. 446-5, Sec. 2, Zhongxing Rd. — 好樂迪KTV大里店, 1,100-plus reviews, 4 stars, 04 2482 5858. Full chain service, easier with older relatives at the table.

No. 517 Renhua Rd. — 阿真小吃, 50-plus reviews, 4 stars, 0939 908 796. Registered as a snack-shop karaoke: songs by turn, beer on the table, neighbourhood trade. Unfamiliar guests or a need for soundproofing? Wrong door.

Both of the larger houses score a flat 4.0. That isn’t a verdict on the singing — it’s the normal Google score for chain KTV. The 1,100-plus and 2,500-plus review counts are the real evidence that they carry Dali’s late hours. Rates vary by time slot, per the posted notice.

How Those Twenty-Two Massage Houses Spread

By format: seven foot-massage, seven wellness parlours, six spa houses, two Thai. The six spa houses are worth a pause — Central District has only three across its sixteen listings, so Dali doubles it.

By road, Zhongxing Rd. alone takes five: 足輕庭養生館 at No. 167-11, Sec. 1, 140-plus reviews at 4.5 stars; 泰正點 泰式養生館 at No. 13, Ln. 382, Sec. 1, 290-plus reviews at 4.9 stars; 新金足養生館 on 2F at No. 117, Sec. 2, 580-plus reviews at 4.7 stars; 佐登妮絲專業SPA_大里中興店 at No. 548, Sec. 2, 80-plus reviews at 4.9 stars; 足優足體養生館 at No. 684, Sec. 2, 80-plus reviews at 4.7 stars.

Two on Daming Rd., two around Defang, three along Yonglong and Yongxing, one on Guoguang Rd., one on Dongrong Rd., and the remaining eight scattered between Shuangwen Rd. and Shuwang Rd.

Want quiet and a timed course? Call those six spa houses — for instance 安媚SPA at No. 716 Shuangwen Rd., 180-plus reviews at a perfect score, 04 2406 6123.

One caution: a perfect score off eighty reviews and a perfect score off two thousand are not the same claim. The complete roster is on Dali massage and spa.

Two Thirty-Minute Local Routes

The Zhongxing route: arrive at No. 362 before seven for skewers and draught beer, NT$400 to NT$600 a head; break up at half past eight and walk to No. 446-5 for a couple of rounds, about ten minutes between the two doors; close out at No. 548 or No. 684 with your feet up by eleven. Anyone who drank leaves the car on Sec. 2 Zhongxing Rd. and calls a designated driver.

The Dongrong route: eat at No. 79, then M-謐境足體按摩芳療館 at No. 112 on the same street, 70-plus reviews at a perfect score, 0902 410 931, three minutes on foot; to sing, cut over to No. 509 Daming Rd., five minutes by car.

When to Just Get on Highway 74

Three kinds of evening don’t belong in Dali: sitting at a cocktail counter, dancing in a club, singing until three or four in the morning.

The Dali interchange on Highway 74 reaches any downtown district in ten to fifteen minutes. For cocktails and bistros, West District is thickest — the Caowudao bistro walk covers that whole stretch. For clubs and high-rise bars, see a first night out in Qiqi. For new rooms and big self-service houses, head to Beitun; the arithmetic is in the Taichung KTV price guide.

It works in reverse too: if you live downtown, the reason to make the trip to Dali is massage, not drink. Dali and Taiping after dark walks the Sec. 2 Zhongxing Rd. spine, and the suburban bistro question answers “is it worth the drive” one question at a time.

A late ride home runs around NT$300 on the meter. Highway 74 moves fast after dark; if you drank, you don’t drive, no exceptions.

Six against twenty-two. Set tonight’s expectations to that ratio and Dali won’t let you down.

Q&A

FAQ

Q1What is there to do in Dali at night, really?

The registry answers it fastest. Of 32 listings: 22 massage and spa houses, six bars and bistros, four venues that take song requests (one of those is a hostess-service format and falls outside what this site recommends). Against West District's 81 listings and Xitun's 92, Dali is the thinnest of the eight districts. Put another way, Dali's night isn't poured — it's kneaded. The district's real strength is its wellness houses, typically NT$100 to NT$200 below downtown for the same hour, per the posted notice.

Q2Is there a cocktail bar in Dali where I can sit at the counter?

Not one, and that should be said plainly. Of the six places registered as bars and bistros: 夜燒碳烤居酒屋(大里店) at No. 362, Sec. 2, Zhongxing Rd., 居酒屋 ·拉麵 at No. 79, Sec. 1, Dongrong Rd., and 九族居酒屋 at No. 8, Ln. 48, Daming Rd. are izakaya; 洛克飛鏢club at No. 579 Yonglong Rd. is a darts bar with 130-plus reviews at 4.4 stars; 聊療貓Bar 療癒系身心靈咖啡廳 at No. 511 Tucheng Rd. has 850 reviews but runs as a cafe; Paraiso 帕拉伊索墨西哥餐酒 at No. 385 Renhua Rd. has 50-plus reviews and few seats. For cocktails, take Highway 74 downtown.

Q3Why is Dali massage worth a dedicated trip?

Density and price. The 22 houses split into seven foot-massage, seven wellness parlours, six spa houses and two Thai — a broader spread than Central District manages across its sixteen. The thickest review count belongs to 脊霸分傳統整復推拿-刮痧 at No. 356 Daming Rd., 2,000-plus reviews at a perfect score, 04 2406 8100, but that's corrective bodywork rather than relaxation. To lie down and switch off, try 青山 足體按摩 at No. 437 Defang S. Rd., 850-plus reviews at 4.6 stars, 04 2482 2575, or 逸蓮居 經絡養生 at No. 397 Yonglong Rd., 740-plus reviews at 4.9 stars, 04 2406 6630. An hour of foot work runs NT$100 to NT$200 under downtown; rates per the posted notice.

Q4Where do I sing in Dali?

Three options. 故鄉庭園自助式KTV大里店 at No. 509 Daming Rd., 2,500-plus reviews at 4 stars, 04 2407 5777 — self-service, good value for a crowd. 好樂迪KTV大里店 at No. 446-5, Sec. 2, Zhongxing Rd., 1,100-plus reviews at 4 stars, 04 2482 5858 — full chain service, fewer snags with older relatives at the table. 阿真小吃 at No. 517 Renhua Rd., 50-plus reviews at 4 stars, 0939 908 796 — a snack-shop karaoke, songs by turn with the regulars; don't bring people you barely know. A room running to three or four in the morning doesn't exist here. It does downtown.

Q5How do I get home after drinking downtown?

Leave the car where it is and call a ride or a designated driver. By car, the Dali interchange on Highway 74 reaches any downtown district in ten to fifteen minutes; trunk buses run to Taichung Station, last services per the posted timetable. A late-night ride back to Dali runs around NT$300 on the meter. Highway 74 moves fast after dark with closely spaced ramps — not a road to gamble on after drinking. Have the designated driver meet you at a main intersection on Sec. 2 Zhongxing Rd., not down a lane.
