GUIDE LINE・FIELD NOTES

Taichung night, explained

Practical guides to Taichung nightlife: bars, KTV, late-night eats and massage — routes, budgets and local know-how.

10-22
Dali KTV Guide: Three Rooms, Three Price Brackets, Three Occasions — Pick Wrong and the Night Is Awkward
Dali — Dali has exactly three registered places to sing, and they are three different things. 故鄉庭園自助式KTV大里店 at Daming Rd 509 is self-service with 2,576 reviews, the heaviest count in the district; 好樂迪KTV大里店 at Sec. 2 of Zhongxing Rd 446-5 is the chain room with 1,136; 阿真小吃 at Renhua Rd 517 has 52 reviews and is really a snack shop with a karaoke rig. This guide runs them as a route — drive times, which occasion each one fits, who should stay away — and says plainly which three kinds of night Dali cannot carry, when to take Highway 74 to West and Central District, and which downtown chains to aim for.

Xitun Massage and SPA Picks: Forty-One Shops Along Four Stretches of Road, Shizheng Rd Foot Houses, Qiqi SPA Clubs, Fengjia Alleys, Zhongke Thai
Xitun — Xitun has forty-one massage shops on file spread over six kilometres, so this guide follows the road, not the shop type. Stretch one, Shizheng Rd to Shangshi Rd, eight shops: 輕井沢足體會館 at Shizheng Rd 581-5 with 3,300-plus reviews, 金礦928 at No. 567 with 2,100-plus. Stretch two, Qiqi, fifteen shops and the priciest: 泰晶殿 at Dadun Rd 987 with 5,800-plus, course SPA NT$1,500 to 2,500 for ninety minutes. Stretch three, Fengjia, ten shops led by 健康家 at Fuxing Rd 566 with 3,300-plus. Stretch four, Zhongke, eight shops with the highest Thai ratio. Includes shop-type counts, which need booking, drive times and a designated-driver note.

10-19
Dali Massage and Spa: 22 of the District's 32 Listings Are Massage — This Night Is Spent Lying Down
Dali — Dali lists 32 venues: 22 massage shops, just six for drinking, four KTV. Massage is close to seven-tenths of the district, which is the single biggest difference between Dali and central Taichung. Laid out as four routes. Sec. 1 to Sec. 2 Zhongxing Rd. strings together Thai, a wellness parlour, a chain spa and foot work. On Daming Rd., No. 356 carries 2,000-plus reviews — the district's volume leader — and No. 441 handles sports massage. Plus the going hourly rate, the ten-to-fifteen-minute Freeway 74 run back into the city, and which doors require a call first.
→
10-19
Xitun Nightlife: Qiqi and Fengjia Are Only Two Engines — The Third Is on Wenxin Rd.
Xitun — Xitun lists 92 venues — 43 for drinking, 41 massage shops, six general KTV — the largest count of any Taichung district. Everyone names Qiqi and Fengjia, yet the heaviest review count in the district belongs to No. 558-1, Sec. 2 Wenxin Rd. at 7,000-plus, which is in neither. This separates the three engines: the Wenxin Rd. run from Sec. 2 into Sec. 3, Fengjia's Fuxing and Wenhua roads, and Qiqi's Shizheng and Dadun roads. Plus the six general KTV with scores and door numbers, the three venues inside one lane off Sec. 2 Henan Rd., and how late-night massage fits in.

10-15
Central District KTV: Nine Listings, Six You Can Bring Friends To, Five of Them Upstairs
Central — Taichung's Central District registers nine KTV venues — the most of any of the eight districts — but three of those are hostess-service venues outside what this site recommends, leaving six you can actually put in an itinerary. The bigger issue is the floor number. Only No. 6, Sec. 2, Ziyou Rd. sits at street level; the rest are on the 2nd, 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th floors. This guide walks them by elevation: 台中美樂地KTV on 8F of Building B, No. 135 Lyuchuan W. St. (5,800-plus reviews) and 銀櫃ktv一廣店 on 11F-1 of No. 133 carry the late-night load; Sec. 2 Ziyou Rd. holds three between No. 6 and No. 129; No. 185, Sec. 1, Zhonghua Rd. has live music downstairs and a karaoke room upstairs. Doors, phones, ratings, review counts, walking minutes from Taichung Station, and the three questions to ask on the phone.
→
10-15
Dali Nightlife Guide: Six Against Twenty-Two — This District's Night Runs on Massage, Not Drink
Dali — Dali carries 32 listings, the fewest of Taichung's eight districts. Twenty-two of them are massage and spa houses — close to seventy percent — against just six bars and bistros, where West District has forty-five. So this guide skips the main-road walk and takes the structure apart instead: of those six bars, three are izakaya, one is a darts bar, one is really a cafe and one is Mexican bistro fare, which leaves exactly zero cocktail bars to sit at. Three venues take song requests, each a different format. The twenty-two massage houses split into seven foot-massage, seven wellness parlours, six spa houses and two Thai, with five of them on one road. Doors, phones, ratings, review counts, two thirty-minute local routes, and when to just get on Highway 74.

10-12
Central District Massage and Spa, 16 Listings: Taichung's Thinnest District — and Its Best for Tuina and Sports Work
Central — Taichung's Central District lists 16 massage and spa venues, the fewest of the eight districts (Xitun has 41). The structure is unlike anywhere else: two of the top three review counts are tuina and sports massage — 1,100-plus reviews on 4F in Lane 159 Jianguo Rd., 2,100-plus at No. 146-1F Zhongshan Rd. This page reads the district as four lanes: five foot-work shops, four tuina and sports studios, two Vietnamese hair spas both on Sec. 1 of Taiwan Blvd., three old-school houses. Doors, phones, ratings, review counts — and why anyone wanting an oil course should head to the West District.
→
10-12
Fengyuan KTV: Five Listings, Four on Xiangyang Rd., Three of Them at the Same Door
Fengyuan — Fengyuan lists five places to sing, and on a map it's almost one road. The self-service house at No. 8, Ln. 170 Xiangyang Rd. carries the thickest count at 3,000-plus reviews; No. 77 Xiangyang Rd. holds three separate registrations in one building, two sharing a phone number. The fifth sits at No. 309 Fengshe Rd. with ten-dollar-a-song karaoke on the sign. Doors, phones, ratings, review counts, how long it takes to get there after Miaodong, the last TRA mountain-line train risk, and which one not to bring your parents to.

10-08
Central District Nightlife by the Clock: Before Eight It's Closing, After Midnight Two Addresses Stay Lit
Central — Central District lists about thirty-eight venues — a different weight class from West District or Qiqi. This guide runs by the clock: from 6.30 to 8 the Second Market, Electronics Street and Jiguang St are shutting; 8 to 10 is the fullest window, with a bistro downstairs and a darts bar upstairs at Minzu Rd No. 194; after ten it's Ziyou Rd Sec. 2 and the 11th floor on Liuchuan W Rd Sec. 3; after midnight, two KTV towers on Lüchuan W St. Includes late-lane and designated-driver notes.
→

With timing, going rates and a designated-driver note.

Taichung City Nightlife: Count Heads First — Solo, Two, Four to Six, Ten-Plus
Central — Planning Taichung City nightlife starts with a headcount, not a district. Solo drinkers take a bar stool in the old town, couples walk the Calligraphy Greenway in West District, groups of four to six vote on singing or drinking first, and parties of ten or more book a chain-KTV big room. Addresses, review counts, per-head budgets, booking windows and ride-home notes included; every venue comes from the district listings.

North District KTV Near Yizhong: Where the Student Rates Actually Are
North — In North District, 'student rate' means a time slot, not a shop. This piece navigates from three starting points: out the Taichung University of Science and Technology gate (No. 129, Sanmin Road Section 3), cross the street, two minutes to Holiday KTV's Sanmin branch (receipts available); from Yizhong Street, about ten minutes to the self-service Superstar KTV at No. 195, Gongyuan Road (per-head pricing, best for four to eight); Nature Style on the 3rd floor across the street at No. 182 as backup. Weekday afternoons are cheapest, don't gamble on walk-in after six on Friday and Saturday, and posted prices at the counter are final.

West District's Greenway Bistro Belt: A Gentle Buzz Along the Calligraphy Greenway
West — Treat the Calligraphy Greenway as a line about two and a half kilometres long and walk it north to south in four stops: the Science Museum stop (a Mediterranean bistro at No. 320, Taiwan Boulevard Section 2 to open), the CMP stop (the izakaya at No. 111, Zhongxing Street with nearly 20,000 reviews — do not queue walk-in after eight on Friday or Saturday), the Shen Ji New Village stop (a slow drink in Lane 79, Xiangshang Road Section 1), and the Art Museum stop (No. 674, Meicun Road Section 1 to close). All on foot, NT$600 to 1,200 a head, most places close around midnight, and if you drink it is a cab or designated driver.

Shalu runs on a different timetable: the student supper strip around Providence and Hungkuang universities and Shalu Night Market, no shop names given, winding down around eleven. Between the two, Expressway No. 5 takes about twenty minutes, or crawl along Taiwan Boulevard. Street numbers, review counts, last trains and designated-driver reminders included.

Mid-Autumn Weekend in Taichung: Where to Go After the Barbecue
The 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Friday, September 25, with the long weekend running to the 27th. Taichung treats barbecue as home turf; the real question comes when the grill lid closes. This piece runs the after-party like a departure board: the 22:00 KTV run (the Jingmao flagship, 5,300-plus reviews), the 23:30 bar run (cocktails on Ziyou Road Section 2, moon-viewing at a 24th-floor rooftop bar at No. 111, Jianguo Road), the 00:30 supper run (skewers on Chongde Road — skip Fengjia this weekend), and the 02:00 massage last run (No. 157, Taiwan Boulevard Section 2, West District, 22,000-plus reviews). If you drink, it's a cab or a designated driver, no exceptions.

Dali and Taiping at Night: Local Picks Outside Downtown
Dali — How people living in Dali and Taiping spend their evenings. Dali has one trunk line, Zhongxing Road Section 2, with an izakaya, a KTV and foot massage houses on the same street from No. 117 to No. 684 — half an hour on foot. Yongle Road and Daming Road are the massage branch lines; after a night run at Dali Sports Park, supper is around Neixin Market. Taiping has no trunk line, only the Zhongshan Road and Taiping Road high street with supper stalls. For bars and clubs, Highway 74 puts downtown ten to fifteen minutes away; if you drink, take a cab or a designated driver. Street numbers, review counts, per-head prices, and why Holiday KTV's 4.0 rating is nothing to worry about.

09-01
KTV in North District and the Yizhong After-Party: a Singing Route Centred on Taichung Park

Weekday afternoons are cheapest; on Friday and Saturday, book that same afternoon. Afterwards, the bistro upstairs at No. 267 Yizhong St and the izakaya lanes off Sanmin Rd; close on the Wuquan Rd massage belt, where two hours costs NT$1,200. Buses from Taichung Station take about ten minutes; ride-hail home late.
