Shilin lists 28 massage shops. Only five of them do foot work.
Search “Shilin massage shops” and what comes back is big foot-work houses, almost nothing else, so that number looks wrong the first time you see it. It isn’t wrong. The district’s review volume is skewed badly enough to make five shops look like all of them.
Not by street, not by the clock — the three roads, what’s still open at each hour and by what your body needs all exist. This one takes apart the mix.
The Four Categories Behind 28 Listings
By the type each shop is registered under: Thai massage and spa ten, spa houses nine, wellness parlours four, foot work five.
Ten, nine, five, four.
Which is the reverse of the impression: Thai is the biggest category here, with ten of the city’s 42 Thai houses in Shilin — more than Da’an’s or Zhongshan’s seven. Foot work is the smallest, and it’s the face of every search result.
Five Foot-Work Shops, Three on One Road
No. 69 Wenlin Rd. is 指舞春秋足體養生會館 士林會館, 1,600-plus reviews at 4.3 stars; No. 102 is 森SPA足體養生館 - 士林館, 4.8 stars and 3,900-plus, 02 2880 7333; No. 135 is 夯足足體養生會館 Hang Foot Massage, 4.7 stars and 3,300-plus, 02 2889 2099. One intersection holds three of them.
The fourth is at No. 211 Zhongzheng Rd. — 明易足體按摩 士中館, 4.8 stars, 100-plus reviews, 02 2880 6388. Few tables, which is why it usually has one free while Wenlin Rd. queues.
The fifth is up in Tianmu: 德力方足體養生館 at No. 115 Dexing E. Rd., 4.3 stars, 70-plus reviews, 02 8866 1516.
Everything else in Tianmu is a spa house, a Thai house or a wellness parlour, mostly course packages, dim rooms, two hours minimum. If all you want is calves and soles, that’s the only door up there; when it’s full, ride down to Wenlin Rd., about twenty minutes by bus.
An hour of foot work runs about NT$800–1,200, posted rates final.
58% on Three Door Numbers
The 28 listings carry 15,000-plus reviews between them.
The three on Wenlin Rd. hold 8,900-plus. Fifty-eight percent.
Those three face the night market’s closing-time flow — the crowd from No. 101 Jihe Rd. walks toward MRT Jiantan and half of it passes Wenlin Rd. Their foot traffic is several times anyone else’s, and so is their review count.
It doesn’t mean those three have better hands. It means they stand in the right place. To compare hands, open the Shilin massage listings and read shops of the same type side by side.
The Perfect Scores All Have Thin Review Counts
Six houses hold a perfect rating. Only one is past a thousand reviews, and four of them sit under 150. One of those four is the Thai house on Sec. 5 of Yanping N. Rd., covered elsewhere — here are the other three.
Dr.撥運動按摩 台北士林店 創新調理 at No. 381 Zhongzheng Rd., 101 reviews: sports injuries go here, no registered phone, online booking only. At No. 26, Ln. 213: 觸動空間spa工作室(不定時休), 40-plus reviews, with its irregular closing days written into the signboard and a mobile on file, 0920 726 693. Also on that road, 佐登妮絲專業SPA_台北士林店, 60-plus reviews, 02 8861 3141.
Two more under a hundred: 瑪索雅Spa at 1F, No. 86 Jiantan Rd., 4.9 stars, 50-plus; 獨SPA指油壓按摩工作室 at 2F, No. 15-21 Dadong Rd., 4.8 stars, 40-plus.
One or two tables, one or two therapists — a perfect score comes cheap at that sample size. This cluster isn’t the walk-in kind; arrange it first, and three of them have no phone on file at all, so it has to be done online.
Nine Spa Houses, Half of Them Studios
Of the nine spa houses, five are past 400 reviews. 佳倍莉SPA士林捷運館 at 2F, No. 301 Zhongzheng Rd. holds a perfect score and 1,200-plus reviews, 02 2882 0899, by appointment — the only one of the nine sitting on top of an MRT station. The other four are on Sec. 2 of Zhongcheng Rd., Sec. 6 of Zhongshan N. Rd., Tianmu E. Rd. and Fuzhi Rd., mostly upstairs, NT$1,500-plus per head, with the last entry around seven and few taking new customers after nine; the three-roads read lists those doors.
The remaining four are the studio cluster from the section above: one category holding both a twelfth-floor flagship and a one-room shop with 40-odd reviews. Jiantan to Tianmu is about twenty minutes by bus.
Ten Thai Houses, Pointing the Other Way
The Thai houses run along Zhongzheng Rd. out to Sec. 5 of Yanping N. Rd., and the further from the night market, the emptier. By walking minutes and by street both cover them, so the doors aren’t repeated here. On the Beitou side the listing is zero — what people in Shipai and Tianmu should do instead is in Thai massage in Beitou.
Two Arrangements I’d Talk You Out Of
Nine to eleven on a Friday or Saturday, four people, no phone call, standing outside No. 102 Wenlin Rd. All three houses run thirty-minute waits or worse, and the Zhongzheng Rd. shops have few tables. Get the massage at seven and eat after, or come another day.
The other is treating review count as your only filter. In this district that number measures foot traffic; Tianmu’s shops read thin because they serve residents, not a closing-time crowd.
December through February Tianmu runs colder than the station side, so bring a jacket; if you’ve been drinking, leave the car and call a driver. Where the rest of the night goes from here is on the Shilin district page.
