Massage in Jiaoxi, Yilan: Where You Sleep Decides Where You Get Rubbed

QUICK ANSWER Sleeping in Jiaoxi? Do not travel — all 28 shops sit inside the hot-spring walking circle, and the one at No. 28 Deyang Rd carries 5,400-plus reviews. Sleeping in Yilan City? Only worth the trip if you were soaking tonight anyway: the local train is ten to fifteen minutes, but the 11 pm ride home is a separate fare. Foot massage runs about NT$600-900 an hour, as posted on site. Rest thirty minutes after the bath, and skip eight to eleven.
Grey-green calendar-and-rain illustration: a notebook spread whose left page is an October month grid with Fridays, Saturdays and the long weekend blocked in red as book-ahead days, whose right page splits into a staying-in-Jiaoxi and a staying-in-Yilan-City column with shop counts and street numbers, and a travel-time ruler down the middle marking the ten-to-fifteen-minute local train

Mid-October, and the northeast monsoon clocks in.

Most people searching for massage in Jiaoxi are really asking one thing: is tonight worth a trip over there for it. The answer is not in the shops. It is in where you are sleeping and what day of the week it is.

Jiaoxi has 47 listed venues, 28 of them massage and spa — the thickest block in the county. Yilan City has 45 listed with 20 massage; Luodong has 42 with 26. Three similar numbers, three different characters.

Turn to today’s page first

Weekdays in Jiaoxi are easy. Walk the Deyang Road row at nine on a Monday through Thursday night and most doors have a table free.

Friday, Saturday and long weekends are a different ledger. Eight to eleven in the evening is the inn-guest peak, when the whole street thinks of a massage at the same moment. Two parties ahead of you is two hours.

Sunday is the odd one: Jiaoxi still runs to the small hours while the Yilan City side closes early. A ninety-minute oil session is not a Sunday booking in Yilan City.

The staying-in-Jiaoxi column

Simple answer: do not travel.

The Jiaoxi massage list is dense past the point of reason. 千歲月足體養生工坊 礁溪德陽店-cash only at No. 28 Deyang Rd has 5,400-plus reviews at a 4.9 rating; 素問足體工坊 at No. 64 Ren’ai Rd has 3,100-plus, and 素問足體工坊(健康二館) at No. 38 Jiankang Rd has 3,200-plus. All of them are a five-to-ten-minute walk from TRA Jiaoxi Station.

Every street number is laid out door by door in the piece that pages Jiaoxi by road, so this one will not repeat it.

Nor should anyone staying in Jiaoxi head out to Luodong just to save money. The local train is twenty-five minutes, an hour round trip, and the few hundred dollars saved go straight back out in fares and time.

The staying-in-Yilan-City column

The ride is barely a quarter of an hour, and yet the conclusion flips.

The TRA local train from Yilan Station to Jiaoxi Station takes about ten to fifteen minutes, and driving Provincial Highway 9 is roughly twenty. The ride home is the problem. You finish at eleven, last-train times are whatever is posted that day, and a taxi back to Yilan City is a separate fare.

So for anyone sleeping in Yilan City, Jiaoxi earns the trip only on a night you were soaking anyway; how to pick a bathhouse picks up from there.

Want to loosen up and nothing more, stay put. The foot-massage shop at No. 187, Sec. 3 Nuzhong Rd rates 4.9 with 2,600-plus reviews; 千歲月足體養生工坊 宜蘭神農路店 at No. 55, Sec. 2 Shennong Rd, first floor, has 1,800-plus; 療癒時光 Healing Space at No. 581, Sec. 3 Nuzhong Rd, first floor, has 480-plus and runs by appointment.

Most of this side shuts before the small hours. If lying down late is the plan, this column is not for you.

After the bath, do not lie down yet

Give it thirty minutes.

A body fresh out of the water is still shedding heat and running a faster pulse, and long oil strokes at that moment leave plenty of people dizzy. Foot massage matters less; the ninety-minute oil session is the one not to force. The difference between Thai and oil is covered elsewhere.

The order in those three hours after the soak is walk, eat, then massage. Reversed, it hurts.

About the tourist price

Foot massage in Jiaoxi runs about NT$600-900 an hour; spa-house sessions are mostly priced per ninety minutes, NT$1,500-2,500, as posted on site.

That band sits a notch above Luodong and Yilan City. 呂師父養生館 at No. 75 Gongyuan Rd in Luodong has 3,200-plus reviews and a 4.9 rating, the heaviest local shop in the county, and its prices land at the bottom of the band.

So what is the Jiaoxi premium buying? Three minutes from the bathhouse door, and a light still on at one or two in the morning. Luodong cannot offer either.

Already sleeping in Luodong? Do not travel north for a massage.

Not on the list means not worth the walk

Hot-spring inns often have a massage room attached, and the front desk will mention a therapist who can come up to your room. Those arrangements are not in the shop registry, with no street number and no reviews to check. People who follow a “we have one upstairs” are the ones most likely to feel overcharged afterwards.

Exactly one hotel-attached option is listed: 長榮鳳凰酒店(礁溪)-慢活spa at No. 77 Jiankang Rd, 150-plus reviews, reached on extension 2420.

If an in-room session is genuinely the plan, use the shop that writes it into its own name: 悠㛊足體工坊 LINE ID:angelliaa 可到飯店或民宿 at No. 71 Heping Rd, 470-plus reviews. Agree the time and the address in advance; calling on the day rarely works.

When to make that call

  • Long weekend: three days out, not the morning of
  • Ordinary weekend: before noon on Friday
  • Weekday: ask how many people are waiting before you leave the room
  • The cash-only shops: ask how much cash to bring while you are at it

November through March is the northeast monsoon, and the rain can run a full week. For massage that is not bad news — bathhouse, table and late-night food are all indoors.

The calendar turns over. The rain is still falling.

FAQ

N-01Jiaoxi or Yilan City — which side should I book?

It depends on where you sleep. Jiaoxi has 47 listed venues with 28 of them massage and spa, all inside the hot-spring walking circle, a five-to-ten-minute walk out of TRA Jiaoxi Station, and many run to one or two in the morning. Yilan City has 45 listed with 20 massage, clustered along Nuzhong Road and Shennong Road, and most do not work past midnight. If you sleep in Jiaoxi, do not travel to save money; if you sleep in Yilan City, the trip only pays off when you were soaking tonight anyway.

N-02How long is the trip from Yilan City to Jiaoxi, and is it worth it?

The TRA local train from Yilan Station to Jiaoxi Station takes about ten to fifteen minutes, and driving Provincial Highway 9 is roughly twenty minutes, so distance is not the issue. The ride home is. A ninety-minute session ends around eleven, last-train times are whatever the operator posts that day, and a taxi back to Yilan City is a separate fare. If you only want to loosen up, stay put: 谷峻推拿 at No. 386, Sec. 2 Nuzhong Rd has 530-plus reviews and a 4.8 rating, right there in the neighbourhood.

N-03Can I get a massage right after the hot spring?

Rest thirty minutes first. A body fresh out of the water is still shedding heat with a faster pulse, and lying face-down for long oil strokes at that point leaves plenty of people dizzy. Foot massage matters less; a ninety-minute oil session is the one to not force. 泰棧舒壓館 at No. 45, Sec. 5 Jiaoxi Rd carries 1,800-plus reviews and a 4.8 rating, about a three-minute walk from Tangweigou Hot Spring Park — finish the stroll first, then walk in.

N-04Which hours mean waiting in Jiaoxi, and when should I phone?

Friday, Saturday and long-weekend evenings from eight to eleven are the inn-guest peak: everyone finishes the bath and dinner and thinks of a massage at the same moment, and on the Deyang Road row two parties ahead of you is two hours. Staying in Jiaoxi, move it to before four in the afternoon or book a late slot outright. As for the call: three days ahead for a long weekend, before noon on Friday for a normal weekend, and on weekdays just ask how many people are waiting before you leave. Hours as each shop posts them that day.

N-05Is Jiaoxi massage tourist-priced?

Yes. Foot massage runs about NT$600-900 an hour, and spa-house sessions are mostly priced per ninety minutes at NT$1,500-2,500, all subject to the posted list — a notch above Luodong and Yilan City. 呂師父養生館 at No. 75 Gongyuan Rd in Luodong has 3,200-plus reviews and a 4.9 rating, sitting at the bottom of that band. What Jiaoxi charges for is being three minutes from the bathhouse door and still open at one or two in the morning. If you already sleep in Luodong, do not travel north for a massage.
